Ah, Yes, good old Fortran IV-- I knew it well.

Most of today's Windows computers come with Windows 7, which is already a
step up from Vista. It also comes with both 32 and 64 bit systems. All the
applications you mentioned will do well with either. 4 Gb of memory will
help.
Go for it, but do let us know how it comes out.
