Greetings to all who took the time to help me:
Pressing F8, (Many times), enabled me to start-up 'at last known configuration',
then brought up window asking to inatilize and activate windows, which I did.
Question ; where did or what happened to my previous windows system.
Anyway, everything seems to be back to normal, except no previous restore points.
My thanks to all for your help,.
You are a great group of people, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Thanks again.

My suggestion is to remove System Mechanic...it doesn't do anything you can't learn to do without having to pay $30

Subject: [Simply Computers] System Crash ?????
Greetings all:
Last night, ran 'System Mechanic' to tune-up PC.
'System Mechanic' went to it's website to load updates & install.
Now computer won't start.
Takes long time to get thru Dell opening screen, (Was fast before).
Goes into check disk screen, (Never did before).
Takes long time to get to password screen. (Sometimes never).
Takes longer time to get past "Load your settings screen"
Dell dimension desktop PC.
Windows professional XP.
Everything worked fine before 'System Mechanic' update & windows update.
Anybody have suggestions?
Or must I reload XP and lose everything, restarting fresh, including all windows updates and service packs, (Nightmare)
Thanks
